How it Works

  • Nodulator liquid inoculant contains Bradyrhizobium japonicum, a natural microorganism that is beneficial to plants.
  • The rhizobia help to increase nodulation resulting in increased fixation of nitrogen for higher yield and protein potential.
  • This product is guaranteed to contain a minimum of 2 x 109 viable cells of Bradyrhizobium japonicum per gram.

Application Tips

  • Inoculant should be stored in a cool (below 20°C), dry place out of direct sunlight until ready to apply in the field.
  • Do not allow this product to freeze.
  • Only use product that has been stored correctly.
  • Once opened, use inoculant within 24 hours.
  • Use before expiration date and only on soybeans.
  • Protect inoculated seed from high temperatures, sunlight or drying winds.
  • Avoid contact with caustic fertilizers.
  • Check with your retailer for inoculant compatibility with chemically-treated seed.
  • If seed is not planted within 3 days from inoculation, the seed must be re-inoculated.

When to Apply

Apply on seed within 3 days of seeding or apply in-furrow at time of seeding

How Much to Apply

On-seed application

The container will treat 165.2 bushels, 4500 kg (9,840 lbs) of seed, using 75 ml of inoculant per 27.2 kg (1 bushel) of seed. Grain auger output depends on the speed and diameter of auger used. Estimate your auger flow then use this chart to determine the flow valve setting that matches your auger output:

Auger output (kg seed/min) Auger output (bu seed/min) Flow valve setting
0 0 0
131 5 1
313 11 2
487 18 3
604 22 4
647 24 5
738 27 6

Directions for on-seed use.

Ensure hose is straight when dispensing inoculant. For proper mixing, operate auger at no more than 1/2 capacity. If seed is not augered, layer the seed in drill box with frequent additions of the liquid inoculant followed by stirring to distribute the inoculant evenly over the seed.

To use the supplied flow valve and hose assembly:

  1. Shake inoculant bladder for 30 seconds before using.
  2. Open box and remove the plastic bladder.
  3. Remove cap. Attach RhizUp flow valve and hose.
  4. Hang the plastic bladder above the treatment area so the end of the hose is just above the seed.
  5. For proper application rates, ensure hose is straight when dispensing inoculant. (Cutting the hose affects the flow rate.)
  6. Adjust flow valve to match output of grain auger. (See flow rate chart above.)
  7. We recommend operating your auger at no more than 1/2 capacity for proper mixing.
  8. Assess the application rate several times as you see the treated seed coming out of the auger and accumulating in the truck or seed drill to ensure application rate is correct.

In-furrow application

The liquid inoculant should be applied at the rate of 29 ml non-diluted product per 304 linear row meters (1 fl oz/1000 linear row feet). Refer to table below for application details:

Row width Recommended rate One Case Treats
38 cm (15 in) 2,560 ml/ha (1,035 ml/acre) 4.8 ha (12 ac)
51 cm (20 in) 1,900 ml/ha (770 ml/acre) 6.4 ha (16 acres)
76 cm (30 in) 1,240 ml/ha (500 ml/acre) 9.6 ha (24 acres)
91 cm (26 in) 1,100 ml/ha (445 ml/acre) 11.3 ha (28 acres)

Directions for in-furrow use.

  1. Clean spray tank. Use table above to determine inoculant volume required for your row width.
  2. Fill the in-furrow tank with the correct amount of RhizUp.
  3. Add the appropriate amount of cool, clean, de-chlorinated water to the tank that will result in an even in-furrow application (typically 45 - 90 litres/Ha (5 - 10 US GPA) for low volume sprayers, and 90 - 180 litres/Ha (10 - 20 US GPA) for larger sprayers).
  4. Ensure that inoculant and water are mixed well (using periodic agitation if available).
  5. Using manufacturer's recommendations, calibrate equipment for appropriate row width (ensuring that 29 ml of non-diluted inoculant are applied every 304 linear row meters).
  6. Use diluted inoculant within a maximum of 24 hours.
  7. Do not allow diluted tank mix temperatures to exceed 25°C.
