How it Works

  • Sovran fungicide provides excellent scab protection, actually preventing spore germination on the foliage and the fruit.
  • Only Sovran works with a unique surface-systemic activity that provides complete coverage of the leaf's surface, even where it's not sprayed.
  • Sovran protection has sticking power, so it won't wash off with normal dew or rain.
  • Sovran gives you 7 - 14 day preventative control.
  • Dry flowable formulation dissolves easily for convenient handling.
  • Fungal isolates with acquired resistance to group 11 fungicides may eventually dominate the fungal population if group 11 fungicides are used predominantly and repeatedly in the same field in successive years.  This may result in reduction of disease control by Sovran fungicide or other group 11 fungicides.

When to Apply

For scab control

  • Apply Sovran as a protectant at 1/2-inch green, or when conditions become favourable for primary scab and continue on a 10 - 14 day interval.
  • Sovran is curative up to 96 hours after the beginning of the scab infection period.
  • Do not apply within 30 days of apple harvest.

For powdery mildew control

  • Apply Sovran at 1/2 inch green and continue preventative applications on a 10 - 14 day interval.
  • Do not apply within 30 days of apple harvest.

How Much to Apply

  • One case of Sovran contains ten 450 g bottles.
Disease Rate Timing
Apple Scab 96 g/ac 10 - 14 day intervals
Powdery Mildew 96 g/ac 10 - 14 day intervals

Mixing Instructions

  1. Fill the spray tank one-half full of water and start agitation.
  2. Add the required amount of Sovran to the tank.
  3. Continue agitation while filling the tank to the desired spray volume.

Resistance Management
To maintain the performance of Sovran in the field, BASF advises strict adherence to the following resistance management strategies:

  • Do not make more than a total of 4 applications of Sovran per season.
  • BASF recommends making no more than 2 sequential applications of Sovran fungicide.
  • After your second application of Sovran, switch to a fungicide with a different mode of action.
  • Thereafter, Sovran can be sprayed for a maximum of two more applications.

Precautions

  • Sovran may cause injury to certain sensitive cherry varieties such as Van, Sweetheart, Chelan, Somerset, Valera and Vandalay.
  • Use care when applying Sovran to prevent contact with these varieties and other non-target plants.
