Charter RTU Now Registered for Cereal Seed Treatment

A new ready-to-use formulation makes seed treatment easier

BASF Canada Inc. has received regulatory approval for Charter® RTU, a new ready-to-use, water-based cereal seed treatment formulation to control a broad-spectrum of diseases in barley, wheat and oats.

“The new formulation of Charter RTU will provide the same broad-spectrum disease control and seed safety growers have come to expect from Charter,” stated Scott Chapman, SeedSolutions Manager for BASF Canada. “The new ease of use in addition to the exceptional true loose smut control in barley makes Charter RTU one of the best cereal seed treatment values on the market today.”

In barley, Charter RTU controls seed rot caused by Fusarium sp., seedling blight caused by seed-borne Fusarium sp., true loose smut, false loose smut, and covered smut. It also suppresses diseases such as Fusarium crown and root rot, and Cochliobolus (common) root rot and seedling blight caused by Cochliobolus sativus.

In wheat, Charter RTU controls seed rot caused by Fusarium sp., seedling blight caused by seed-borne Fusarium sp., loose smut, and common bunt. It also suppresses diseases such as Fusarium crown and root rot, Cochliobolus (common) root rot and seedling blight caused by Cochliobolus sativus.

In oats, Charter RTU controls loose smut, covered smut, seed rot caused by Fusarium sp., and seedling blight caused by seed-borne Fusarium sp. It also suppresses Fusarium crown and root rot, Cochliobolus (common) root rot and seedling blight caused by Cochliobolus sativus.

Charter RTU will be available in a 2 X 9.3 L jug case and 200 L drums.

Charter RTU seed treatment can be applied by commercial seed treatment plants or with on-farm gravity-flow or mist-type treatment machines. It can also be applied with “on the go” air seeder treatment systems.
