Disease calling? Give it the runaround.

Under the right weather conditions, pulse diseases can have a significant impact on crop yield and quality. For instance, ascochyta can lead to yield losses of up to 70% in chickpeas when conditions are favourable.1 Each rainfall or high humidity event can also trigger the release of additional spores throughout the season, increasing the severity of the disease each time.

Your timing should be impeccable.

Most fungicides work best preventatively. For best results against pulse diseases, apply a fungicide as early as 1st flower to stop fungal development before it starts. Under conditions favourable for disease, follow up with a second fungicide and use the recommended water volumes. This will help the fungicide reach the canopy bottom where moist conditions lead to the development of disease.

Next up: Harvest Management

Since pulse crops mature from the bottom up, a pre-harvest application can help speed up your dry down and increase field uniformity, making your harvest more efficient. The key is application timing.
